In this movie, Dorothy (played by diva Diana Ross), a shy Harlem schoolteacher, is miraculously whisked away to an urban fantasy land called Oz (that looks like a crazy(ier) version of New York City!). After accidentally killing the wicked witch Evemean upon her arrival, Dorothy is told about The Wiz, a wizard who can help her get back to New York City. On her journey she’s joined by new friends Scarecrow (Michael Jackson, in a breakthrough role), Tin Man (famed performer Nipsey Russell), and the Cowardly Lion (the legendary Ted Ross), but they are pursued by Evillene (Mabel King), the evil sister of Evermean.
